the Ida Pearl band
Serving up a soulful blend of originals and eclectic covers.
Our grandmothers would approve, but just barely
We asked a friend to take our photo after practice one day. Just so you know — we didn’t plan in advance to wear battling batik-print shirts! We may not be fashionistas, but we know how to play and generate some good times.
Ida Pearl consists of Cynthia Cummins (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), John Bowman (cajon, drums), Mark Wolynn (lead guitar, backing vocals) and Richard Karst (bass, backing vocals). We play a 50-50ish blend of originals and covers in the rock- country-blues-and-more vein.
We’re available to perform all around Siskiyou and Shasta counties, as well as up north near Ashland. For booking inquiries contact cynthia@cynthiacummins.com.
Oh! And since you asked, the band is named for Mark’s grandmother Ida and Cynthia’s grandmother Pearl. We’d like to think they’d be happy about that.
We’d love to play for you and yours!
Reach out if you’re interested in booking Mt. Shasta’s newest and most original band. We don’t have recordings to share yet, but we will soon! Meanwhile, we’d love to tailor make a gig just for you.
Videos & Audio & Images
This is a video from an early house concert. A recording of a Cynthia original called “Too Tired to Be Sad.” (It just happens to be one of the better videos from that evening. Please check back for new and improved video content in the not-too-distant future!)
Here we are, same show, doing one of Cynthia’s original compositions “Sail to the Sky.” Don’t listen if you don’t want to cry.
And one more — A song called “Dots and Dashes,” written by the members of Silversun Pickups.
Performing at the Shasta Art, Wine and Brew Fest, July 2026
